About The Huntsmen

The Huntsmen is a community led by a father and sons who are dedicated to revitalizing the age-old connection between humans and nature.  We live and breathe the ways of the wild.  Inspired by our ancestors' deep connection to nature, we pursue sustenance and survival over sport.  Our focus includes traditional outdoor pursuits like hunting, fishing, growing food, and exploring how reconnecting with our wild roots can foster a more natural way of living.

Going far beyond skills of the bow and the rod, the stories we explore and share illustrate the profound impact of embracing ancestral practices.  We aim to educate and inspire individuals to adopt this lifestyle, fostering a community of other huntsmen (and huntresses) who make a positive impact on the natural world.

Our diverse, worldwide membership is united by a shared passion for the outdoors and a commitment to responsible stewardship of natural resources and reclaiming our health.

Through education, advocacy, and hands-on conservation work, we strive to preserve and promote an active, nature-centric lifestyle for current and future generations.

Patrick McKewen

Patrick is captivated by the wild.  Guided by an innate connection to the natural world, he has always allowed his enthusiasm for exploration and the great outdoors to shape his life's journey, finding a sense of solitude and tranquility in untouched natural environments, far from civilization.

Hailing from a mixed lineage of North American tribesmen and Slavic European pastoralists, he has traveled to over 40 countries and experienced many cultures.  At a young age, he learned how to hunt and fish with his father and maternal grandfather, conducted the Vision Quest rite of passage in the ways of his tribal ancestors, and spent time camping and bushcrafting throughout the east coast U.S.

After retiring from over 25 years working as both a local and federal law enforcement officer and as a private sector global security executive, he now lives with his three children in the North Georgia woodland mountains.

Teagan McKewen

Teagan is Patrick's oldest son.  Out of everyone in the family, he spends the most time out in nature.  After graduating from high school, he began working for a local landscaping company so he could be outside as much as possible.

He developed a natural interest in hunting and fishing (it's in his blood after all), and began to hone his skills in the local North Georgia mountain forests, managing to harvest two deer in his first year of hunting - one of which was his first buck.

Surrounded by a generation of peers addicted to screens, vapes, and in poor overall physical condition, Teagan is leading the charge to inspire more young men and women to return to the wild in order to improve their health and happiness.

Cade McKewen

Cade is Patrick's youngest son.  Being homeschooled gave him more time than most young men his age to explore skills in self-reliance.

Before the age of 18 he started his own landscaping business, restored a classic fishing boat, rebuilt an outboard motor, has more mechanical skills than most men twice his age, and has become the family grillmaster.

Like his brother, he followed his natural instincts to the outdoors and learned to hunt and fish.  He hopes to see more young men learn the skills of our ancestors and have life experiences full of adventure and vitality.
